Restaurant Review: Bak Kut Teh Spot near icon city
I visited this Bak Kut Teh (BKT) stall with colleagues for lunch. Here’s my honest breakdown of the experience:
🌤 Atmosphere: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
The setting is a typical food court environment—hot and stuffy with basic fluorescent lighting. While functional, the ambiance is far from comfortable, making it less suitable for a relaxing meal.
🍴 Service: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
The service was straightforward and efficient. With fewer customers around during our visit, the food was served quickly. However, the service was average, with no notable effort to enhance the dining experience. But when we left there alot of people and long queue but I had better bkt
🍽 Food: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
The food was acceptable but fell short of expectations for a Bak Kut Teh fan like myself.
• Bak Kut Teh Soup: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
The broth was overly sweet, with an overpowering herbal taste that lacked balance. It didn’t deliver the comforting, savory flavors expected from a good BKT.
• Portion Size: The servings were slightly small, leaving us needing to order extra dishes to feel satisfied.
💰 Price: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
The pricing felt steep given the quality and portion size. Spending RM20 per person seemed excessive, considering the average taste and smaller portions. There are more affordable and better-tasting options in the area.
🚗 Parking: N/A
Parking wasn’t assessed during this visit.
🏠 Final Assessment
Overall, this BKT spot doesn’t stand out. While the service was quick, the underwhelming soup, small portions, and higher price make it hard to recommend, especially with better alternatives nearby.
Will I revisit?
Probably not, unless my preferred spots are closed.
Ideal time to visit:
Try during off-peak hours to avoid long queues, but temper your expectations.

Where do you normally bring friends from overseas to eat? I don’t know about you but I’ll think of Bah Kut Teh because it’s proudly Malaysian having originated from the port town of Klang.
Lazy to drive that far, I drove my friend who came back from NZ to Ah Sang, a legendary BKT seller in his own right. The shop is located in Sg Way New Village and has a very basic Kopitiam setting. Bearable in the morning but it gets hotter during lunch time.
◾Claypot Bah Kut Teh – the pot was filled with thick, tender meat (of your choice).. taufu pok, enoki mushroom, fu chuk and veggie. The soup has a strong herbal aroma however lacked of the sweetness from the meat.
◾Blanched lettuce with oyster sauce and fried shallots to justify that we had greens to balance the BKT.
I have been coming here for the longest time whenever I crave for BKT but loathe driving down to Klang in the past. But now I have newfound favourite in OKR.
Service was efficient but lack human touch
First time here for a descent BKT for lunch. A very old school taste of BKT with good huge portion. Fragrance is very much up to par and it is very flavorful. The meat were generous and soft!
Worth coming back again if around.
Went there around 1230pm on a normal Sunday noon. Waited around 10 min and the service was quick. Unfortunately many items were sold out so please go there earlier. Parking is a bit challenging but u can park on the road parallel to it near to a hindu temple. There will be staircases to climb up.
BKT is heavy with herbs and meat is tender.
This lovely claypot of goodness will make us smile on any morning. The soup was delightfully tasty and full of umami from the ingredients. The pork belly seemed fatty, but it simply melted in your mouth! 😂
