If you are looking for a good Peranakan Restuarant that’s serves authentic southern baba nyonya food, Big Baba is a strong recommendation. We ordered the Pineapple curry assam fish. The curry was very tasty with thick coconut milk in the mix. A top recommendation. Next we had the Buah Keluak Beef Rendang. Bush Keluak has a unique taste. Those craving for it, will find this a gem. The beef was tender and juicy. To cap it off, we had the Belacan Kangkong. Done to perfection. A very satisfying meal. Thumbs up!
Overall the food is great, flavorful. For those who can’t eat spicy, you can definitely dine here. The dishes aren’t spicy, sago gula malacca dessert is nice.
The portion is decent for 4 to 5 pax sharing.
Food is 4/5 but combined with the price, overall score I give 3.5/5. We ordered the pai tee, fried squid rings, curry debal, beef rendang with keluak and fried sawi. Pai tee felt a little expensive, I wish they provided more pai tee shells. Debal curry chicken hardly any meat. Everything else was quite lovely.
We especially enjoyed the dessert. We ordered the sago and cendol, both came unsweetened, we were given gula melaka to adjust our own sweetness.
Not crowded when we visited on a Saturday evening. Service staff here were perfectly friendly and offered to take our photograph. However, I was bothered by the plastic table topping. It got stuck to some of our plates and we nearly spilled some stuff.
Six of us had dinner here and the quality was amazing! Bill came up to RM317 which I thought was reasonable. The highlights of the meal were the beef rendang, pineapple curry fish and omgggg the sago gula melaka which my wife said was the best she’d ever had in her life!
We came for early dinner on weekend & a few table was reserved. The environment is warm, very relaxing background music. The only things is don’t know why our table have a lot of tiny ants.

Pineapple Curry Prawn, good. Prawns is fresh & the curry is tasty
Rendang, not the classical nyonya dish, a bit wet not up to my expectations
Juhu char, very sweet. Chili is fresh but sweet too.
Candol, so far the best. I rate 8/10
I usually not prefer the big red bean as I had tried most of the place is not as flavorful & soft as the small type but this the texture is soft & smooth. Candol is good & can tell the coconut milk is fresh type not the box. The soul of candol is of cause is the gula Malaka, flavorful & authentic. The shave ice texture can be improved.
