Trusty Spanish tapas places with good Sangria and small plates. They do bigger meals like lamb as well. I always go for the paella with squid ink and it is very good. Cava has been there for years and it going strong.
Good and attentive service. Food portion relatively small, fresh seafood and I love the signature tapas, good matching with bread. We ordered escargot but ended up quite disappointed. Others than that everything is good.
Decided to dine here after craving for some paellas and also knowing they were Michelin recognised. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Croquettes were delicious and fried squid, my gosh, amazing! Loved the sauces that paired with it. However the mains were a let down after such delicious starters. The beef cheek was tender, but everything else were bland. Sauce was too thin, and the grilled vegs had almost no seasoning. Paella lacked some flavours, and it wasn’t slightly charred at the bottom, which wasn’t to my liking.
Is the food quality something I would expect from a Michelin recognised restaurant, maybe no? But of course, that’s just my personal opinion.
After a trip to Spain, we’ve been looking for Spanish food back in KL. Cava offers a wide range of items, including five types of paella in two sizes.
Food was generally good and we especially enjoyed the beetroot hummus, oxtail and grilled squid (Special of the Day).
Chicken and beef chorizo paella came in a pan that’s just nice for two to share. The rice is flavourful and chicken pieces were tender. However the green peas were too hard and dry, so I thought they could be replaced with another softer ingredient.
Pandan crema Catalana is an interesting local twist with light cream. My partner who was hesitant before ordering actually enjoyed it.
Service was prompt and can be a bit more personal and attentive. Perhaps the place was relatively crowded for a weekday night and she was too busy.
Overall, we would return with family to try other tapas and paella.
We ordered main chermoula chicken, chorizo croquettes, baby octopus, lemon posset and white sangria. Overall service is good. I noticed most customers ordered their squid ink paella, which is their signature. I’ll try that next trip.
