DC has established one of the finest restaurants in Malaysia. The food wouldn’t disappoint. However, we just crave for a bit more from a top tier fine dining experience.
We opted for the 8 course menu, which was delicious, well prepared and of high quality. Prawn was huge. And for the main course, the steak offered better flavor than the signature lamb. However, while everything was executed beautifully, there was no wow factor.
We were required to pre-order from the menu via whatsapp 3 days prior to our reservation, our first such encounter for a fine dining restaurant. It felt cumbersome. If the restaurant absolutely needed the info for seatings arrangement, this could be streamlined into the reservation system or by simplifying the menu options. Do also note that all diners were required to select the same courses, with only main and dessert available for individual choice.
Staff were friendly. But miles apart from the meticulous service standard of 3 star Michelin restaurants. Among the team, only one staff demonstrated notable knowledge of the menu. And 1 of the staff at the entrance came across as unwelcoming, rushing the guests during arrive and departure, possibly due to the mismatch external environment when the main door was opened.
Seating area was gorgeously decorated and it stopped there. The ambiance was let down by external surrounding, there was nothing unique about this part of TTDI. This row of shop houses lacks any charm. Even the interior staircase felt dated, differing from a polished restaurant.
DC restaurant well deserve the 1 Michelin star rating, with high quality dishes and distinct flavors. However we just can’t stop comparing it with 2/3 stars establishments that were often inspiring and refined. DC restaurant has potential to shine even brighter.

Dinner at @dc_restaurant was definitely a standout 💫among the many restaurants I’ve had the privilege to visit, Michelin-starred or otherwise. Here are my thoughts:
Food rating: 10/10 ⭐️
The ingenuousness of the pairings were truly unmatched. Though it’s difficult to pick just 3, I especially loved:
(1) Foie Gras with 70% Madagascar Chocolate and Nougatine – Foie gras is a strong savoury flavour that is most commonly paired with fruity or other savoury flavours, so the bitterness and depth of the chocolate was so surprising! The texture of the chocolate mousse perfectly matched the foie gras pate, and against the crunch of the Nougatine, I couldn’t have imagined a better mouth-feel!
(2) French Scallops with Watercress Puree, Coconut Shoot, Zucchini, Apple Beurre Blanc (and Akimo Liver) – This was so special. First of all, I was really proud of myself for identifying the Akimo before it was introduced, and trying it was such a special experience. Being a seasonal fish, there really aren’t many opportunities to try it so I was so glad that I tried it for the first time in this dish. Against the firmness of the scallop it served almost as a thick sauce or a spread! The flavours were so complementary and the shoots were a nice crunch!
(3) Blossom, Yuzu Elderflower Sorbet with Jasmine Chocolate Foam, Caramelised Chocolate Cream and Strawberry Spherification – Not only was this one of the prettiest desserts I’ve had, it was also the most (wonderfully) complex! The sorbet wasn’t icy, the jasmine foam was so perfectly perfumed and the popping strawberry sphere added just enough drama and flair.
Ambience Rating: 8/10 ⭐️
Nice, quiet and private, though nothing to shout about.
Service Rating: 12/10 ⭐️
The overall service was excellent. The courses were well paced, staff were attentive. But what truly tipped the scale was the extent that the staff went to accommodate our needs. Apart from receiving the cake and flowers, and offering an additional dessert, they walked us to the car carrying our leftover cake and the macarons (which were delectable btw) they sent us home with!
Would I come back?: A resounding yes!

The food is mediocre, not worth to pay for the premium. Over-rated. The staff put a lot of effort on the service by pushing us to order expensive glass of wine. Beware! We ordered one glass of wine at Rm 98 but was being charged Rm300+ and when we questioned the staff, he claimed that we ordered the expensive one. Just be careful
Deserves the stars it gets. Pleasantly surprised at how well they used regionally sourced produce to create balanced yet surprising tastes. Service was excellent and we will definitely be back.
