Starling Mall has a nice foodcourt located at the top floor and it is getting very popular. Crowd can be seen during the weekend. The food court has a good variety of different dishes.

The hor fun & prawn noodle from the noodle store was good and Uncle Soon’ fried rice is also recommended. The roast pork from the chicken rice stall was quite tasty. Overall price are reasonable and a good place to enjoy local food.

    Dong Feng Pork Noodle

Remember this name because this might be one of best newcomers in the pork noodle scene, and add pork mixed soup in the equation for that matter.

Opening a stall in the popular Foodies’ Nest in Starling Mall, I stumbled upon Dong Feng during my dinner hunt. For the uninitiated the food court is located on the 3rd floor of this shopping mall in the heart of Damansara Utama affectionally known as Uptown.

◾Traditional Pork Noodle – first impression was good with its murky and cloudy soup. First scoop and I was sold.. brimming with sweetness from the pork; and the meat texture generally tender and nice to chew. I finished until the very last drop.
◾White pepper pork soup with yam rice was their take on this popular fish from Mainland Penang. The soup had a good heat from the white pepper and the sweetness from the pork meat enhanced the flavour further. And don’t get me start on the yam rice – nicely cooked with generous amount of the yam (some gave lesser yam because of the cost). Closer to the one I had in Butterworth and IMHO better than the one in Publika.
◾Lim Fried Chicken – one of my favourite fried chicken, never mind that it’s commercialized as long as the quality is consistent. For me it’s always fried whole leg with their sambal and curry.. but those hungry ones can go for their rice or CCF doused with curry and sambal.

For now Foodies’ Nest remains my favourite food court to visit due to the extensive choices of food such as Uncle Lim Fried Rice, Vietnamese food, etc … with Dong Feng another strong reason to visit.

    Foodies’ Nest @ Starling Mall
    Review on Oct-Nov 2024

Foodies’ Nest is a culinary gem located on Level 3 of The Starling Mall, seamlessly connected to Somerset Service Damansara Uptown via a secured door. During my two-week stay at Somerset, I indulged in the vibrant and diverse flavors of Asian cuisine, making Foodies’ Nest my go-to dining destination.

The food court is a bright, clean, and inviting space where diners can enjoy their meals in air-conditioned comfort, a welcome respite from the bustling mall. While some may opt for the more upscale restaurants within the complex, many, like myself, are drawn to the affordable and delectable offerings at Foodies’ Nest — truly a case of different strokes for different folks.

Operating hours are convenient, with stalls opening at 10 am and some closing around 9 pm when they run out of their delicious fare. The food court remains relatively quiet until lunchtime, especially on weekends, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely meal.

The culinary options are vast and varied, featuring everything from plain or spicy noodles, which can be enjoyed dry or with a normal or curry soup base, rice be eaten with variety of delicious dishes from dishes ranging from tongue-burning sambal or regional specially, to delightful ice and sweet desserts, and traditional nonya kuihs. Each visit promises a new and exciting gastronomic adventure.

Whether you are a local or a visitor, Foodies’ Nest offers a delightful dining experience that captures the essence of Asian cuisine in a comfortable and accessible setting.

Variety of food stores available for you to choose at the top floor.

Ordered the Uncle Soon shrimp fried rice, cucur udang and other foods.

The food taste is accepted generally.

The aircond at this floor kind of does not flow thru much, sweating during dining.

It’s a self service to collect the food after your food is ready.

Wide space and many seats available. Oh not to forget, there’s a hahal section dine in area as well.

Foodies’ Nest food court has some good options. Although they are mostly Asian/ Chinese food, they are actually quite delicious. I particularly like Uncle Soon’s Fried Rice and the Ipoh Hor Fun here. Drinks are also not bad here, even if they’re quite basic. The food court itself is spacious and has a good comfy vibe to it. If you want some varieties for your lunch and dinner, this food court will do just nicely. Recommended!
