The food may look appetising but honestly, they don’t taste that way. We ordered smoked duck aglio olio and it was really, really oily, until I couldn’t finish it cause any more & it will make me puke. (I don’t do well with oily food). That aside, the taste was mediocre.
Next dish, crispy chicken donburi. Okay, at least this one was acceptable & easy on the stomach, due to the rice but! The chicken wasn’t crispy at all.
We also ordered their fish fillet sandwich, it was really, really, greasy too. So heavy that even my husband couldn’t finish it. The bread tastes like it was fried or something, and then there’s the cheese and the sauces, everything is just plain heavy. Perhaps if the bread wasn’t done in such a way, it won’t be that bad.
And! Since they don’t actually have a door (like there’s literally no doors), flies can get in easily. I know it’s all for the sake of the ambiance, making the entryway without any doors but really, this is supposed to be a cafe yet you can’t help but dine in with “friendly neighbourhood flies” too.
Sometimes I wonder why a cafe so close to home yet I have never stepped in. Heck, I have even gone to Inside Ipoh next door numerous times for KSHF.
When I finally made my maiden visit to Hartton Kitchen, a bright cosy cafe in the busy area of Uptown .. the quality of food surprised me honestly. Service was welcoming from the service crew making my weekend morning.
◾Shakshuka Baked Egg – baked eggs in tomato stew, mixed greens, brocolli & toast-ed butter loaf, little/mild spicy. A comforting dish with the egg yolk still runny so I could break it and mix with the savoury vegetable stew.
◾Mentaiko Salmon & Avocado Rice Bowl – portion fit for one but since the two princesses were not feeling hungry early in the morning, it was shared between both. Love the touch of furikake that added umami taste to the bowl.
◾A glass of flat white instantly woke me up from sleep.
This will be in my permanent list from now on.. love the location plus their food!
cozy place for hangout, serve good foods. Order summer fish lime, crispy chicken donburi, salmon salad and turkey ham sandwich. But forgot to take pict for salad & sandwich. I would rate the foods 9/10… price consider reasonable. Service is good. Happy tummy !
Ordered once via grab and had to dine in. However portion seems slightly lesser comparing to when I ordered grab. Nevertheless food quality is good. Ordered smoked duck aglio olio and scramble eggs chicken breast.
A fan of their delicious healthy food. Well seasoned, fresh and tasty dishes. Love the omu omelette with beef and the shrimp 🍤 pasta. Comfy, air-conditioned space.
