Always heard lots about this restaurant. Finally got to try.
My personal verdict: the foods are normal. Not really worth to go purposely just bcz it is famous.😊😊😊
Braised duck is OK at least it has no smell. But taste of the grsvy it pretty much subjective. But I taste it was just normal.
Price is average, cost rm35.50 for half duck and 2 rice. 🦆🦆🦆🦆
But if you are there, make sure you try the satay. I found it is good. Tender meat, very flavourful.
This Kam Heong braised duck is one of the best. It is no surprise that it has been around for many years, and there is always queue in the weekends to get a table. Yet, one doesn’t have to wait long for the food.
They also served braised pork knuckle, preserved vegetable, and egg.
The restaurant has outdoor seating with a retractable roof in case of rain. Hence, it can be quite nice when there is evening breeze in good weather.
There is also a satay stall selling chicken and beef satay.
After dinner, one can stroll around the town centre, which is closed for traffic.
This place have been around for almost 40 years. I remembered coming here since I started working in PJ back in the early eighties. Especially liked their braised duck, the braised pork knuckle as well as the braised duck gizzard. Together with the salted vegetables, braise beancurd, braised hard boiled eggs, and braised mushroom, it made a delicious wholesome meal accompanied by their delicious porridge. Not forgetting their chilli sauce goes very well with the duck and pork knuckle. The service here is fast, efficient and best of all, the prices are reasonable.
Another plus point if you are coming for dinner, there are plenty of parking behind the shop.
This is a legendary coffee shop with a good braised duck but it starts from 3 pm onwards. Prepare for a long queue. However, from morning up to 2.30 pm, they have many good food including Egg Fried Rice (Din Tai Fung’s version but need to wait at least 30 min), Penang Kuey Teow Soup, Prawn Noodle, Wantan Noodle & Nasi Kukus Ayam just to name a few. It is properly ventilated despite an old shop & the boss is quite savvy as he joins force with the next door dessert shop & above dim sum outlet to extend varieties of food for the customers. Parking during weekdays can be horrendous but during weekends, you can expect ample parking spots
Visited on a Sunday evening around 6.45pm, place was super crowded, but still managed to get a seat pretty quickly.
Overall food was okay, service was good too despite being super busy, I can see why this place is popular. Personally not a huge fan of the braised duck, though. Not super tender but not tough, flavour was a bit meh for me.
The oil rice was surprisingly well-prepared, though, not your usual semi-broken mediocre quality white rice.
After having dessert next door, they were pretty much closed and fully cleaned by 8.30pm, so they definitely don’t operate until 9.30pm as stated here.
