Karim is one of the few food & drink stalls at the SS2 selera malam food court by the read. They have been here for a long time now and caters to regulars and also newcomers.
In the day, they have roti canai, goreng² and a few other items, and at night they compliment the overall food stalls here with drinks & food. Prices are standard mamak rates, service is quite good. Food and drinks are also ok. Roti Canai is freshly made in the morning, and if you want fresh, ask then to make a new one, not take from the container.
Food is ok and affordable but check your food for glass to be safe, as a lightbulb burst above the gerai when I was last here. There is also a man working here who will approach ladies who sit alone to ask personal questions. When my male friend left our table to pay, the man who took our drink order out of nowhere approached me to ask “Nak tanya. You cina atau melayu?” (Usually I respond “Malaysian” bc I don’t like uneeded race talk but that night I terperanjat sangat sangat.)
Uncle please, I tak kenal you pun. What does my race have to do with eating at your gerai? If you want to be friendly with customers you can try say hello, introduce yourself, then ask something appropriate like whether I enjoy your food. No need to ask strangers for their personal information! Hope he reads this and understands that as a lady it always makes me feel unsafe when strange men suddenly ask me personal questions. Thank you.
