This is our new go to place for breakfast in PJ Old Town. This shop has a great selection of food available like Chicken Rice, Wanton Mee with Char Siew, Curry Mee, Kampar Fishball Noodle, Hor Fun with Shredded Chicken, Hakka Mee, Lam Mee Suah, Char Siew & Roast Pork, Steamed Chicken, Blanched Bean Sprouts, Chicken Hor Fun, Homemade Fishball Noodle, Prawn Wanton Hor Fun and many more choices. The food taste and quality is superb with reasonable prices. We enjoyed all the food and drinks served. The lady boss and staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Ordered chicken rice (Drumstick roasted chicken). Meat was tough and not as tender as how drumstick is suppose to be. Price here is reasonable enough though. There are better places for to fix your chicken rice craving, just my two cents.
One of the best place to get your chicken rice craving fixed. The chicken that they served is fresh and big, unlike most of the Kopitiam, they slap until so flat to make it look bigger! Price is also quite affordable.
Also have to highlight the friendliness of the owner. Even though she is busy handling the orders, still go extra and beyond to make sure all your order is correct while a smiley face!
Great pork noodles at a chicken rice stall. Reminiscent of old school flavours but done in a way uniquely their own. If you love slightly heavy flavours with a tinge of nostalgia, this place is for you.
This place is a hidden gem. You’ll have difficulty even knowing it exists if you depended on the Internet. I came across this place when I was randomly on foot hunting down a different noodle shop located nearby (which I later discovered, had been relocated to a different area). I saw this place gaining a crowd and thought I should give it a try.
This place is actually popular for its chicken rice and the roast items. But I was determined to have noodle soup that day so I gave it a try without any expectations. To my surprise, it was very good 🤣
So this place is actually tucked in the old neighbourhoods of PJ adjacent to the industrial area. Most of its crowd are humble neighbourhood old folks and also factory workers (or some of them HQ office workers of those factories). This is probably why this place is such a well kept secret.
The pork quality and marinade flavour is very good. A lot of modern pork noodles rarely make much effort in marinating the pork anymore. And even if they did that, they would also avoid any steps to flour coating the meat slices. This is done in old school places very often to give an extra silky smooth finish to the pork slices.
I have tried both their regular pork noodles as well as their pork ball noodles (sam kan chong) and both is great. The pork ball noodles are a bit heavy in flavour due to the pork sausage slices (which comes from their roast stall). The meats are usually fresh and sweet. But if you happen to come after their off days and public holidays, you might suddenly be met with excessively heavy flavours to cover the less fresh meat (which happens often at other vendors too but if you’re making a special trip here to try it then you would want to avoid this).
Price is considerably cheap. Service is quite fast although can be chaotic at times. Parking is horrendous but if you don’t mind walking, you will be able to find something. This is also a roadside stall so expect it to be a little hot. Can be difficult to get seats at times.
I hear the chicken rice and roast meats are great too!
This is one of the better chicken rice places to eat in PJ Old Town. They brand themselves a ipoh bean sprouts chicken rice, but their roast chicken, char siew & siew yoke is quite good
The very small shop is sandwiched between two other regular coffee shops at the end of Old Town. Char Siew is those melt in mouth type.
