Halal Dim Sum in Petaling Jaya
@ EmpireDamansara (Just Opened)
Comforting bowl of..
Traditional Century Egg porridge (Halal)
Location : Empire Damansara LG Level
I packed home a nice warm bowl of CENTURY EGG PORRIDGE (only RM8.90). I love the porridge texture. If you add half a Salted Egg into this bowl of Century Egg porridge, it will taste better and more filling.
The porridge texture is sooo smooth. Very comforting.
Having eaten authentic century egg porridge myself, i can’t complain much when this is for halal consumption, it is acceptable….
Warm & friendly service.
Nice little dim sum shop tucked away in the lower level of Heritage Lane.
Service was good and prompt. They have expanded their menu, and so far all items are delicious. The Curry Mee was flavourful and nice.
Food
– i ordered chive gyoza, cabbage gyoza and taro cake. First of all, the waiter dont ask me if i want it steam or fry (nvm as i assumed the gyoza that i will get is referring to the image shows in the menu). To my surprise, it was all fried and does not resemble the image at all. I recognize the taste and its not homemade.
Service
– Their staff all the way from the cashier, waiter, kitchen are not even familiar with their own product. I asked the waiter by showing him a picture of steamed dumpling (the picture is one of the review in google review). He dont even know which one is that. He bring the menu and point to me the dumpling tha i inquired. The issue is, that was the exact dumpling that i have ordered earlier (chive gyoza) and it came to in totally different form. Then the waiter call the cashier, also not sure and they had to call their boss/owner which they called mother.
At first the mother summarize to me by saying the gyoza in image that i want is steam gyoza, and the one i received was fry. After telling her that i dont even get to select, she said she will make a new one for me. After waited 5 minutes, she came back and apologies by saying the gyoza is finished. I asked her if the gyoza was finished what did i get earlier ? She apologised and said i got a different item, not the gyoza that I ordered. She said the staff not sure ‘as long as the food came out’.
In the end, i got fed up and prompt to leave before i got mad. I paid for 1 taro cake and 1 gyoza (despite wrong order) and another 1 gyoza (they gave me free).
Foodwise (despite i got the wrong order) – For gyoza : The taste is so so. You can buy frozen gyoza, steam it or cook it properly and it will taste better than this.
For taro cake : TOTALLY different from the image that i saw. Then only i realise they just took any google image pictures that look appetizing (ive attached the picture that they took from google image). This was the worst taro cake ive ever eat.
The noise from the steamer/exhaust fan was quite loud, which made it difficult to enjoy a quiet and comfortable dining environment. Food ok !
A very cozy little shop and kind lady boss, the handmade dim sum and handmade fish balls are both delicious and fresh. One of the best Muslim-friendly dim sum I’ve ever had.
