Search for Curry Laksa but fall in love with Fried Hokkien Mee.
I saw a Fried Hokkien Mee stall next to Auntie Ling’s Nyonya Cendol and it was very quiet and no one ordered. I decided to give it a try. The service was fast, big portion and came with 3pcs of fresh small prawn, some pork slices, pork lard and cabbages. The overall taste was nice and sambal was spot on too. But, the Wok Hei not so stood out. However, it is still acceptable for RM9. I then chatted with the old uncle who served me, he told me that the cook was from Ipoh and been selling Fried Hokkien Mee in Jinjang for so many years before shifted to this Medan Selera. His stall named is Hau Yeh and also accept orders for Roasted Duck with minimum 4 birds per order at RM72 each. They also sell Hong Kong style 艇仔粥 (Sampan Congee or Boat Congee) and fresh ingredients will be cooked inside the porridge when ordered. This Hokkien Mee seller said the rental was slightly cheaper at Medan Selera, therefore he can sell at RM9 and give slightly bigger portion. I think nowadays, many food sellers are charging quite expensive, hence as customer we need to spend wisely on food that are worth eating. Next time, if I go to Medan Selera Wawasan, I will eat this Hokkien Mee again and try his porridge. I will also try the Indian mixed rice just next to this Hokkien Mee stall. This stall only sell Hokkien Mee and porridge 艇仔粥.
We came here to try out some other dishes available, as we always patronized Lau Wan’s stall, and not the others.
At the right end of the foodcourt, we were able to try out the Mutton Soup, Chicken Satay, and other varieties of delicious foods too. Maybe we will come again soon!!
The chicken rice is great. Soup mix well with rice and the sambal is sweet and not spicy but i hope that sambal can be a little bit spicy. The chicken was tender and juicy. I will come again to try another menu.btw I really recommend to take chicken rice combo because it came with free ice lemon tea and taugeh with soy sauce for RM12.90.
Nice little Food Center with only a few stall open. Was there to try Aunty Ling’s Cendol and Laska. With 2 drinks was around RM19.80
Also had the Nasi with Indian dishes. Lots of variety. Very poplar with the local there.
I think I scoped up like 5 varieties (mutton, chicken, omelette, potato, tofu with Rice) RM20
The Cheng Jing Steamed Fish stall is good here. They only operate at night but their food is really good and very value for money! 3 of us had a scrumptious meal of 4 dishes – “Cheong Jing” steamed fish head, steamed lala, baby sotong and a vege dish. The rice comes in individual rice tubs for you to scoop the amount of rice you can eat. Stall owners here are also friendly and helpful to recommend what they have to offer.
