Saw so many 5-star reviews, so I decided to try this hotpot place instead of Haidilao, which I visit almost every month. I have to say, the decor and food presentation are excellent, and the price seems slightly cheaper than Haidilao.
However, the chef’s knife skills are almost too good—the meat is sliced so thin that it’s hard to pick up, and once cooked, it shrinks into tiny pieces. I ate several plates and was still not full.
The self-service sauce and vegetable selection are also quite limited, and overall, the price isn’t exactly cheap. Honestly, not worth recommending.
This is a stellar hotpot spot. From the initial greeting when you arrive at the ground floor and the ushering into the dining area to the service to the quality of the meats. Everything was impeccable. The outside common area has many instagrammable spots to take photos but don’t let that detract you from the excellent quality of the food which is the highlight and the reason you are here. They enforce a 2 hour time limit but from my experience they are not very strict with it. The soups are sublime and the bonus point here is that you can take away if you can’t finish your food. They help you pack it in plastic containers for a fee but to enjoy it the next day really makes it worth it. Definitely worth a revisit.
The food is of good quality and taste especially refined due to the great soup bases (we ordered the collagen and butter mala soup bases). The staff are very friendly and helpful as well
The restaurant gives customers a free mantou dish for 5 star reviews, which likely explains why there are so many 5 star reviews. Personally I really dislike it when restaurants offer rewards for 5 star reviews because it makes the reviews unreliable and not very useful in general. Having said that, the restaurant itself is not bad. The meat quality is decent, decor is interesting old Chinese style and the mala soup is good. The collagen soup however tastes only like regular chicken soup. The condiments and fruits selection are average. The complimentary dessert is a Marigold ice cream cup. Service is fine but can’t compare to the leading hot pot restaurants. Overall it was a good experience but just not as good as other hot pot places. I might bring visitors here because the decor is different and the toilet is superbly clean, but for a regular hot pot place I would go elsewhere. There is valet parking which is useful.
Now they are keen on reviews but I don’t mind as all aspects still as good..
Seriously standards are still high. Food is fresh and has interesting varieties like coagulated duck blood – fresh and nice smooth taste. Mountain vegetable. (贡菜) Service is good. Vincent Jx served us.
