Family CNY dinner at this nyonya restaurant. Ordered a variety of food including the ever popular joo hu char, paku pakis. Taste wise was above average and portions were reasonable. As with any nyonya shop pricing is always a bit premium. Good place to bring your parents, not really appealing to the younger generations.

I’ve never had Nyonya food like ones I had in Tanjung Bungah. Their food are simple yet authentic. Their food comes without frills and are delicious. My favourite amongst themis the Jiu Hu Char! 100% recommend trying this place out.

Very tasty food in good portions at reasonable prices. Good spice strength and the sambal belacan is good. This underrated restaurant has been around for over 40 years and is among the better authentic Penang Nyonya restaurants in PJ. The chef is the second generation taking over the kitchen. Simple clean decor with tables for 2 to 10 pax. Highly recommended.

Old and run down restaurant. It probably looks better if you go at night. It’s still ok if the food tasted great, but very so-so, no high points. Food lacks color visually, overall very bland, which is not what I expect from a Nonya eatery ! Foreign staff all clustered at the back chatting away, which I find personally very off-putting.

Another favourite Nyonya spot of mine for over a decade.
There are two dishes that are a must-have whenever I dine there: their Kerabu Paku (fern) and Kerabu Fish Skin. Unfortunately, my favourite kerabu fish skin has been discontinued since the MCO lockdown. Apparently, the fish skin supplier stopped making them as it is a tough and labor-intensive process to skin those fishes. Such a pity, because it’s such an AWESOME dish… Perhaps there is a chance of a new supplier someday.

Their kerabu paku pakis is the best I’ve had among all Nyonya restaurants. Their sauce is unique and gets the tangy sourness to perfection with a hint of cincalok in it. Other popular dishes include the Coffee Ribs, Inchi Cabin Chicken, or fried taichi tofu. They have lunch sets during weekdays, and the Nasi Ulam is not bad too.

The owners are friendly, service is quick, and the prices are reasonable. It is clean, with air condition, slightly tight in space; if there’s a way to improve the noise & echo level in that place, that would be the only thing. Perhaps more decorations to absorb sound ? 😊
I’ve been recommending this place to all my friends, and everyone has fallen in love with their food and returned as their fan.

This little restaurant gets busy from 7pm onwards, so either make reservations or get there early, especially on weekends. Situated on the bustling street of Chow Yang, finding a parking spot there during peak hours would be a challenge.
