We enjoyed the Assam laksa, pork rendang and Vinegar pork trotter very much!!

Nasi ulam – Compare to last visit, we feel today’s rice was too wet and the vegs were too little so the fragrance and mouthfeel didn’t stand out. Rempah ayam was good as usual.

猪母酸 – Never heard of this dish. We tried cos it was highlighted in the menu. Unfortunately we didn’t appreciate it. Sotong was hard and the sauce was too little, expect to have some chili but none. Weird to serve with fried pork fats. Perhaps will taste better with chili and onion – A sour spicy combination.

    Lobak a tad too salty

Dad loves the deco, it absolutely brings back the feel of his era!

    Lighting too dim though.

Been about half a year since our last visit in Aug 2024. Was looking forward for Tau Kee dishes but was feeling disappointed.

Services was still prompt but taste for Assam pedas squid has deteriorated. The Assam pedas has water down and no longer thick in taste. The squid are cooked slightly too long.

The bitter gourd omelette was good. Cool to perfection without being dry and still has moisture. The rest of the food like basil chicken was still good just the next time when we come back again, we hope to eat the thick fragrant Assam pedas again, not the watery kind one

Three of us tried this nyonya place based on reviews online. Parking was alright as we could find a spot in the evening not too far from the restaurant.

This place has a very intagrammable vibe to it. The deco is interesting and the food garnished and plated in a pretty way. While we were there, there was a couple who took their time photographing the food carefully, and we assume that they are doing it for social media purposes.

Having said that, we came for the food and we were not disappointed. There is quite a variety of food on the menu though some were not available probably due to the difficulty finding the right ingredients then. However, it was not difficult to choose alternative based on the extensive options.

The food in general reminds me of home cooked meals that your ama (grandma) would cook. In general portions were good and there was plenty of good spicy aroma. Be prepared to let the chef know your level of spice tolerance as it could get to be a tear-and-sweat fest if you don’t take to spicy food well. We could not finish the food we ordered, but the staff happily obliged for us to take away the remaining.

Would be happy to return again.

Atmosphere : well decorated. Not sure I can relate to baba Nyonya decorations. A bit like farm to table. Nice and cozy. Not very sure why bird cages.
Service : food came fast. Provide one plate for two pax. Not sure why.
    Food:
Tofu and roast pork. Roast pork was salty.
Nyonya perut ikan. Perut was big piece. But, I think we got 3 pieces fish stomach. Vegetables were overcooked. I mean beyond recognition like paste. However, balance of taste is still good. Nasi ulam: lots of ulam. Little rice. Balance of taste is not good. Overpowered by ulam leaves. Ulam leaves was rough. Very rough.
Sambal petai prawn : I think it was served with frozen peeled shrimp. Shrimp was small, size 45/50 maybe. Not very impressed with this version.
Ju hu char: the jicama was soft and watery. Take your pick. I like the dry wok fry version.
