Known for it’s Hainan Chicken ans skinned fish (not sure if i got the right name). This place didn’t disappoint. Definitely on top of my list for the chicken.
A long standing restaurant in SS2 that has stood the test of time. And once you try the food here, you’ll understand why.
The signature dish is, of course, the village chicken. I guess this refers to free range chicken or colloquially referred to as kampung (village in Malay) chicken.
You must also try the fish curry, which was out of this world. The curry is so thick and flavorful.
One downside, which is quite common amongst local restaurants, is the noise level in the small confined space with lack of sound absorbing material.
Parking wise is a bit of a hit or miss. Limited parking in a highly popular area. Come during off peak or park further away and walk.
I have passed this restaurant many times and finally we came for dinner. Don’t let the simple sign board and interior deceive you, the food is very good. The stuffed fish (normally restaurants have stuffed chicken ) is crispy and tasty, villages chicken is tender. Will be back for more soon.
Signature stuffed fish and now chicken very soft.
Used to give oyster sauce for the chicken.
The interior is quite small and tight. If you come in a big group, definitely will have some issues with seating. Parking around this area…its not to say difficult but you definitely need to park further up and walk down to the restaurant. The food took abit longer than expected to arrive but still ok. Food is not bad. Every table have their signature Village chicken. It’s good but what is the hype? The fried rice was the star of the day. The rest…I cant find any fault in it but it’s just ok. Price is slightly higher than your average tai chow restaurant.
